Siaya: Agony as 4-year-old boy drowns in a dam

Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said the boy drowned in a dam.

The incident sent a wave of grief across South Sakwa Ward as locals struggled to come to terms with the boy’s untimely death.

Preliminary reports indicate that the boy slipped into the dam located in Kopolo area.

His brother Stephen Otieno told the police that his younger brother, who had accompanied others to fetch water, drowned in the dam.

 “The pre-primary 1 pupil at a local primary school was allegedly playing with the others. He fell into the waters before drowning as his playmates watched helplessly,” Kimaiyo said.

The boy’s body was retrieved from the dam by members of public.

“The body has been moved to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
