Siaya matatu hits boda boda rider, leaves 25 people injured

The passenger sustained injuries after a mini bus matatu that they were travelling in hit a motorcyclist and veered off the road before plunging into a ditch.

Assistant Chief of Komolo sub-location in North Alego location where the incident took place Mr. Felix Orwenyo stated that there were no casualties, adding that passengers only sustained injuries.

Those injured were immediately rushed to Siaya County referral hospital where they are undergoing treatment as plans are being made to tow the vehicle to Siaya police station to await inspection.

While confirming the incident, Mr. Orwenyo stated that the motorcyclist also sustained severe injuries and was equally rushed to the same hospital for treatment.

The administrator stated that the minibus matatu which belongs to Nyaugenya Bus Services Company was on its way from Ugunja towards Siaya and was speeding when it got involved in the accident.

Siaya County referral hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Liech Adoyo says that the 25 passengers including an infant are undergoing treatment and are all still in a stable condition.
