Tension in Kibra after woman, 70, is hit and killed by military ambulance

The 70-year-old woman is said to have gone to buy meat from a nearby butchery and fell on the road when the speeding ambulance ran over her.

According to eyewitnesses the military vehicle was overtaking a lorry before running over the victim crushing her head splattering her brain on the tarmac road.

Kibra subcounty deputy commissioner Gideon Ombongi has confirmed the incident saying the police and additional military officers have been deployed on the scene to quell the growing tension.

The irate locals who wanted to torch the military vehicle were repelled by the armed military men.

Mr. Ombongi said investigations into the incident have begun even as he urged the residents to simmer down.
