Three people killed and 14 injured after Nissan matatu rolls

A Nissan matatu plying the Homa Bay–Rongo route crashed on Sunday morning, August 21, at the infamous Arujo Bridge in Homa Bay County.
According to witnesses, the accident occurred at around 9:30am.
“The matatu was trying to avoid hitting an oncoming vehicle when it lost control and rolled several times off the road,” a witness said.
Speaking about the accident, Homa Bay County police
commander Samson Ole Kinne, said: “Two passengers who
were inside the matatu died on the spot, while another one died while being rushed to the hospital."
According to one of the witnesses, three vehicles; a trailer and two Nissan matatus were approaching the dangerous bridge at the same time – when the accident happened.
Police said that the injured were rushed to the Homa Bay county
Referral hospital.
