Two bodies found hanging near a school in Kisii

Residents of Bogiakumu Village in Kisii county woke up to disturbing news after bodies of two young men were found hanging by the neck, near a primary school in the area.

The two men had their hands tied from behind, trousers pulled halfway down, and appeared to have been beaten to a pulp, before being hanged.

Kisii South County police commander Mr. Charles Machinji confirmed the incident, adding that the two were identified as Erick Ogega aged 25 years, and Canvas Magembe aged 22 years.

According to Mr. Machinji, there was every indication that they may have been killed in the wee hours of Monday morning.

Machinji said: “We were informed about the incident by members of the public. They reported to us about bodies of young men found dumped next to a fence, around Nyamokenye Primary School in Bogiakumu ward.”

“The two appear to have been hit by a blunt object somewhere in the head region because they were bleeding from their noses,” said Mr. Machinji.

He asked residents not to take the law into their own hands, and instead report matters to the police for appropriate action.

The bodies were taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary as the police embark on investigations.
