Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo has assured Kenyans that the National Assembly is going to pass the Political Parties’ Amendment Act ahead of the General Elections next year.

Amollo says those opposed to the amendment to the Political Parties’ Act will be in for a rude shock because it is going to pass as the house goes for a second special sitting Wednesday, December 29.

He further argues that the Act will encourage the formation of coalitions with proper legal arrangements.

“Those amendments are healthy for anyone who mens well for this country because they allow and encourage what has already been happening,” said Amollo on Tuesday in Rarieda.

“We’ve always had coalitions, but without amendments in terms of the law, so this allows a structured and legal way of having those coalitions.”

The lawmaker also warned Deputy President William Ruto’s allies who have been opposed to the amendments that they will realize that indeed there are no numbers that they have been bragging about.

“The amendment is not a threat to anyone, his followers are opposing because they want to oppose. I have not heard anyone say anything meaningful on why they are opposing,” Amollo said.

“We will show them that the numbers they keep talking about are actually absent. We will be there in parliament, pass those amendments and proceed into the election year,” he added.

The MP has on the other hand told off Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala over threats to disrupt the planned meeting at Bukhungu stadium, saying that such gathering cannot be threatened away.

Amollo added that the law is very clear that anyone can hold any gathering in any part of this country so long as they have notified the police, and that anyone who threatens such gatherings must be dealt with as provided by law.
