Widow seeks justice after son’s murder over land dispute in Migori

A widow in Suna West, Migori County is appealing for help after her 17-year-old son was killed over land disagreements on April 14, 2025.

Mary Atieno, who has also fled her home following the incident, claims that she has yet to get justice.

She claims police asked her to fund the postmortem before investigations and the burial, but she lacks the financial means.

Threats from those involved in her son’s death continue, leaving her hopeless and worried.

Her son’s body remains in the morgue, with bills piling up daily.

Despite seeking assistance from local leaders, Atieno says that her efforts to cover burial costs have been unsuccessful.
