2023 KCPE candidate dies as mudslide sweeps home in Kitui

A 16-year-old girl who sat for her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) this year died on the spot following a mudslide at Kwa Katungu area in Ndolo location, Kilungu sub county Kitui county.
Ilima ward administrator Dinah Matheka says the mudslide hit their house, collapsing the bedroom wall where the minor was sleeping.
Several homesteads have also been affected by the slides in the area occasioned by heavy rains which have caused floods in most parts of the nation.
Meanwhile, Redcross and Makueni disaster teams are responding to the incident.
