Baby Sagini’s grandma, aunt and cousin to be charged with causing grievous harm to him

Three suspects in incident where Baby Junior Sagini's eyes were removed on Thursday appeared before the Kisii Law Court.

Alex Ochogo (Cousin to sagini), Pacifica Nyakerario (Aunt) and Rael Nyakerario (Grandma) appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Ogweno following the conclusion of investigations by police officers.

Prosecutor Hilary Kaino told the court that they will not proceed to charge the suspects following the absence of interested parties like children's officer and the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).

He requested to detain the suspects for one more day to allow interested parties to be present during the plea-taking.

The suspects agreed with the submission from the prosecutor to be detained for a day.

The suspects will be detained at Rioma police station ahead of the plea taking on Friday, December 23.

The three are accused of causing harm to three-year-old Baby Sagini on December 13, where they are said to have gouged out the minor’s eyes.
