Sol Generation, the record label founded by Sauti Sol, on Friday in a rather unusual move announced that it had signed the boy band's lead singer, Bien Aime-Baraza.

Bien is said to have signed the deal, worth a reported Ksh.50 million figure, as a solo artist – and not as a member of the Sauti Sol band.

He received his dummy cheque bearing the said amount from Sol Generation General Manager William Nanjero, during the official launch of his EP project ‘Bald Men Love Better’ featuring Aaron Rimbui.

The deal is expected to stretch over a three-year period.

“50 is not a random number. It is a representation of talent, grit, tenacity and continuous improvement. It is also a representation of how the industry is deliberately being re-engineered. Today we have signed an enigma. Bien-Aime, welcome to the family,” wrote Nanjero.

Bien now joins Nviiri The Storyteller and Bensoul at Sol Generation, a record label he helped found.

The announcement occurred simultaneously with the release of Bien and Rimbui’s ‘Bald Men Love Better’ EP.
