The remains of a body suspected to be that of former Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) Director General Silvanus Tubei, who went missing 12 years ago, were discovered buried in a shallow grave a few meters away from his home.
On Thursday, a team of detectives exhumed the body, pending further investigations.
According to the chief of police in Keiyo South Abdullahi Dahir, investigators will conduct a DNA test to determine if it matches that of former Tubei and determine the circumstances in which he lost his life.
Tubei disappeared from his home in Kabiemit village, Chepkurmum, Tumeiyo area in Keiyo sub-county, south, on the morning of September 26, 2012.
According to reports, a gardener found the remains of a body in a buried blanket while tending to a garden and discovered the bones of an adult human.
Tubei oversaw the construction of the multi-billion dollar Turkwel Dam, for which KVDA was the implementing agency, and the construction of the 14-storey KVDA corporate headquarters in Eldoret.
