EACC detectives arrest Vihiga County Education officer

Detectives attached to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Friday arrested a senior Vihiga County officer in connection with an ongoing corruption investigation.

The suspect, Vihiga County Chief Officer for Education, Science & Technical and Vocational Training Dr. Noel Malanda, is currently being detained at the Kisumu Port Police Station.

Confirming the incident, EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi told Citizen Digital that a sum of Ksh.400,000 in cash, unaccounted for by the Chief Officer, was discovered and seized from drawers within her office.

While noting that Malanda is one of several Vihiga County officials that the anti graft body is investigating, Ngumbi added that more arrests are expected in the devolved unit where several cases of corruption have been reported.
