Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested eight suspects believed to be behind a wave of violent robberies across the country in Mtito Andei, Makueni County.

The DCI, in a statement released on Tuesday, said the gang has been on the agency's radar for months over a series of violent break-ins and burglaries in Nairobi, Nakuru, and Mombasa.

The eight are said to be part of a broader gang in the targeted regions, where businesses have suffered heavy financial losses, with residents left reeling in fear.

“One of the gang’s most daring strikes occurred on the night of August 22, 2025, when a group of 25 to 30 armed individuals stormed Century Mabati Ltd in Nakuru County. Wielding crude weapons, they looted steel coils, machinery, and even made away with a tuk-tuk before vanishing,” the DCI stated.

Intelligence later connected the suspects to other high-profile break-ins, including a major robbery in Nyali, Mombasa.

Detectives traced their operations and coordination to Nairobi’s Dandora, Kenol, and Kariobangi estates.

The breakthrough leading to the arrests of perpetrators came when police intercepted a lorry loaded with goods stolen during the Nyali robbery.

Investigators also recovered a Toyota Porte believed to have been used as a getaway car, as well as crude weapons and a Century Mabati-branded apron.

DCI says the seizure disrupted the gang’s supply chain and provided vital evidence for the ongoing case.
