Former Kayole North MCA Samuel Ng'ang'a Mwangi has conceded defeat in the Embakasi Central Parliamentary seat race.

Mwangi, who was running on a Jubilee Party ticket, took to social media on Wednesday night to laud his main rival, United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) Mejja Donk amid the tallying of votes.

“I still believe in service leadership, and I always will. To my supporters and residents of Embakasi Central if you do, then we must accept the results and then look to the future,” Mwangi wrote on Facebook.

“Now is the time to recognize that which unites us is greater than that which divides us. A worrier lives to fight another day. Congratulations to MP-elect Mejja Donk.”

Mwangi similarly appreciated the electorates for the opportunity to run for the seat, urging his supporters to also accept the results and remain united.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the great people of Embakasi Central for practicing your democratic right,” he stated.

“Thank you Kayole North residents for according me an opportunity to be your Member of the County Assembly for the last 5 years. It was great, serving the people.”

Mejja Donk on his part thanked his adversary for the move, promising to work together with him after the elections to ensure the prosperity of the constituency.

“I take the earliest opportunity to congratulate Samuel Mwangi for respecting the decision of the Embakasi Central electorates. This is a clear indication that we will maintain our development course,” Donk noted.

“It is encouraging to note that our campaign was a race based on principles, ideas and a vision of a better constituency.”

He added: “With the majority having had their say I call upon everyone regardless of their political divide to unite with us as we embark on our clear path of prosperity and building a society that is all-inclusive."
