Ex-governor Ferdinand Waititu sentenced to 12 years in prison

Former Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been sentenced to 12 years in prison or pay Ksh. 52.5 million. 

The ex-governor was found guilty of conflict of interest in a Ksh.588 million graft case. 

In the sentencing at Milimani Law Courts on Thursday, Waititu was similarly barred from vying for any political seat for a period of 7 years.

Waititu was charged along with his wife, Susan Ndung'u, who was slapped with a one-year imprisonment or pay a fine of Ksh.500,000 shillings.

The court convicted them on graft-related charges but acquitted them on three counts of money laundering.

Their co-accused, Testimony Enterprises Limited director Charles Chege, has also been slapped with a Ksh.295 million fine or serve a 9-year jail sentence.

Beth Wangeci, the second director at Testimony Enterprises Limited has also been fined Ksh.1 million or serve one year behind bars.
