The law enforcers took a giant leap towards securing the title, moving six points clear at the top with two matches left to play following a 1-0 win over Talanta FC last Sunday.
Munene singled out the arrivals of former Gor Mahia and Simba SC midfielder and Marvin Nabwire from AFC Leopards as a significant addition to Police.
“Kenya Police have done a lot in terms of experienced players they have roped in this season. The signings they have activated shows you how serious this club is with players like Kahata (Francis) and Marvin (Nabwire) injecting belief in the team,” said Munene.
Munene further believes that with the title race going down to the wire and relegation battle remaining incredibly tight, is an indication that the league is growing.
“The league is so competitive both at the top and the relegation battle which I can say that for the first time it is open that even number 11 out of 18 teams can go down if not careful in the remaining two matches.
“The same thing is at the top because number three Gor Mahia, Tusker and leaders Police can still win it,” he added.
Police FC top the standings on 61 points, six ahead of Tusker FC while Gor Mahia who have a game in hand sit third on 54 points.
At the same time, the relegation battle is still alive revolving around eight teams who are yet to be declared safe.
Bottom of the table City Stars, Bidco United, Murang’a SEAL, Posta Rangers, Talanta, Mara Sugar, Kariobangi Sharks and 17th placed Ulinzi Stars all face a potential chop.
