The government has issued a safety advisory to Kenyans residing in Israel and Iran due to the ongoing conflict between the two nations.

In a statement released on Tuesday, State Department for Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu appealed to the Kenyan nationals to exercise extreme caution and avoid non-essential movement within troubled zones.

Further, the Kenyans were urged to monitor local media and follow local authority instructions to guarantee their safety.

"The safety and well-being of Kenyans abroad remain our utmost priority as the situation in the Middle East continues to evolve," she noted.

To get assistance, she urged them to contact Kenyan embassies in Tel Aviv and Tehran.

"Register your presence with the Kenya mission near you if you have not done so, to ensure you can be reached quickly in case of evacuation or emergency support. Stay Connected and maintain regular contact with family members and inform them of your whereabouts and well-being," the statement added.

"The Government continues to monitor the situation in the region and remains fully committed to the safety and welfare of Kenyans wherever they are."

The ongoing war between Israel and Iran erupted after years of simmering tensions, with the two longtime rivals now trading missile attacks on an unprecedented scale.

On June 13, 2025, Israel dropped around 330 munitions in Tehran and Iran's nuclear facility in response to intelligence allegedly showing that the nation was developing a nuclear weapon.

As a result, at least 20 senior commanders were killed, including the chief of staff of Iran's armed forces.

In retaliation, Iran has also fired missile salvoes at Israel, leading to massive civilian casualties.

As of June 16, 2025, international reports recorded at least 224 fatalities in Iran and 24 in Israel.
