Gov't provides relief to Kawangware fire victims

Through the Ministry of Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes, the State Department for Special Programmes led an emergency response, delivering crucial relief items to affected families.

Emergency supplies, including foodstuffs, beddings, soaps, and dignity packs, were distributed to the victims following an early morning assessment visit by the Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku.

Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi, senior officials from the State Department for Special Programmes, and local National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) were present during the relief exercise.

"In the face of increasing fire outbreaks, floods, and landslides, especially in informal settlements,  the government remains proactive in its disaster response efforts," said CS Ruku, assuring the public of the government's unwavering commitment to ensuring that all affected Kenyans receive timely support and assistance.

CS Ruku emphasised that to provide long-term solutions, the government is also intensifying its affordable housing programme, aiming to replace vulnerable informal structures with dignified, low-cost housing in urban villages.

He further noted the Ministry, through the State Department for Special Programmes, reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of all Kenyans through timely interventions and sustainable development initiatives.
