GSU one step away from volleyball glory

The former champions showed early dominance in the first set winning 25-15, before holding off a spirited KPA fight in the second set to win 25-22, and then sealed the match in a thrilling third set that went into extra points, prevailing 30-28.
The win saw the paramilitary side stay on course for a record-extending 16th title and a first since 2022 after the current champions Kenya Prisons were stunned by KPA in the semi-finals held in Mombasa last month.
The second match of the best-of-three final is scheduled for Saturday, and a win for GSU will see them crowned national champions.
If KPA overturn the deficit on Saturday in the second leg, the final will go the full distance on Sunday in the deciding ties.
By virtue of reaching the final, the two teams have already booked their tickets for next year’s African Men’s Volleyball Club Championships.
