A section of learners studying mechatronics at Musakasa Technical Training Institute in Bungoma county have called on the government to revive industries to deal with high unemployment rates.

Led by Alvin Omondi, the students  decried that despite receiving training that can be applied in industries including sugar factories, the rate of unemployment remains high.

"The government needs to put in place strategies to ensure that industries are fully revived and others are built to help us get jobs and strengthen the economy," he said.

Teachers also lamented over lack of adequate facilities to cater for the growing number of students.
