Speaking during a road inspection tour in Mbeere South, Embu County, Kindiki said the tarmacking of the Gachoka–Gachuriri road would be completed on time and opened by President William Ruto.
“The tarmacking of the road from Gachoka to Gachuriri in Mbeere South will be completed on time and the President will be here to open it. I give my assurance on this,” he said.
The Deputy President said the government had settled Sh177 billion owed to contractors, adding that going forward, payments would be made on time.
“We have paid all the contractors who had abandoned sites and are now back on site. We have settled Sh177 billion owed to the contractors. Going forward, we will pay them on time because we have enough money to complete all the 6,000 kilometres of ongoing roads and to commence other projects,” Kindiki said.
He maintained that the Kenya Kwanza administration would use completed development projects as its scorecard when the campaign season arrives, citing roads, water projects, electricity connections and modern markets.
“We will have tangible projects to defend our tenure in office… This will be our scorecard,” he said, taking a swipe at the opposition, claiming its leaders had previously held senior positions but had little to show.
Kindiki said the government was focused on delivering development and would not be drawn into what he termed “idle talk”.
In Embu County, he said the administration was undertaking other projects, including the construction of 12 modern markets and fast-tracking completion of the Kiambere and Kamburu water projects.
