Kirinyaga man kills wife and two children, sets house on fire

Residents of Ngurubani town in Mwea, Kirinyaga County, are reeling in shock after a man allegedly murdered his wife and two children before attempting to take his own life in a horrifying domestic incident.

According to eyewitnesses, chaos erupted late in the night when loud screams were heard from the suspect’s house.

Moments later, the man reportedly emerged from the house with a rope tied around his neck and severe burns on his body.

Alarmed residents quickly mobilized and entered the house, where they discovered a disturbing scene; three bodies believed to be the wife and two children, burnt beyond recognition.

Police have since launched investigations into the incident, with reports indicating it may have been triggered by a domestic dispute.

Samuel Mbochi said: "Niliskia watu wakigombana kwa nyumba…nikaskia watoto wakisema ‘usidunge mama na kisu’…kukakaa kidogo nikaona moto imejaa kwa nyumba nikakuja nikapatana na huyo mzee akitoka nje akipiga nduru."

"Naskia soja alisema kulikuwa na mzozo juu usiku mzima wamelala wakipigana…mzee mwenye huko ametoka nje kama amefungwa kamba akiwa anachomeka wakamzima hata nguo zake ziko pale…wazima moto wameingia ndani wamepata miili tatu, watoto wawili na mtu mzima," Mercy Wanja added.
