Makueni: Police launch manhunt for murder suspect

Police in Kilungu, Makueni County, have launched a manhunt for a murder suspect accused of terrorising residents across several villages after reportedly resurfacing in the area.

The suspect, linked to the killing of a middle-aged woman earlier last month, has allegedly been spotted in Umu, Katulye, and neighbouring villages, triggering fear and heightened tension among residents.

Kithembe Acting Chief Charles Musembi confirmed that security agencies are actively pursuing the suspect.

He noted that the suspect had been released from police custody last year after a court ruled there was insufficient evidence to sustain a murder case against him at that time.

Residents have raised concerns over their safety, calling for increased police patrols and swift action to arrest the suspect before further incidents occur.

Police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to report any information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest as investigations continue.
