Maraga alleges state-sponsored chaos at opposition rallies, warns of intolerance

Speaking during a tour of Kathonzweni in Makueni County, Maraga said opposition figures share a common goal of ensuring President Ruto serves only one term.

He said consultations would be held to determine who among them is best placed to fly the opposition flag in 2027.

Maraga also accused the President of failing to decisively tackle corruption, saying it continues to undermine service delivery in key sectors including education and health.

He argued that mismanagement of public resources has weakened institutions and eroded public confidence in governance.

The former CJ pledged that, if elected, his administration would prioritise the fight against corruption, strengthen oversight mechanisms and enhance accountability in public expenditure.

He also urged Kenyans — particularly Generation Z — to register as voters in large numbers, saying youth participation will be decisive in shaping the country’s political future.

At the same time, Maraga condemned recent incidents of chaos at opposition rallies, alleging the disruptions were state-sponsored and warning that continued political intolerance could destabilise the country.
