Mentally ill man kills mother, stabs twin brother in Githurai 45

Police officers in Githurai 45 have launched a manhunt for a suspect said to be mentally unstable who allegedly killed his mother and injured his twin brother.

The suspect, Erick Kamau (24), early Tuesday morning reportedly stabbed his mother several times, killing her on the spot.

His twin brother, Derrick Mwangi, sustained knife wounds to the chest after reportedly trying to intervene and rescue their mother from the attack.

According to Ruiru Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Justus Ombati, the deceased had recently enrolled the suspect into an institution for the mentally challenged so he could get the necessary help.

The injured brother, Mwangi, is receiving treatment at St. Joseph’s hospital while the body of the deceased was taken to the Kenyatta University Funeral Home.

Police officers are presently trailing the suspect.
