Kacheliba Member of Parliament Titus Lotee has expressed his belief that the Kenya Kwanza government has largely met the expectations of Kenyan citizens.

Speaking on Citizen TV’s Day Break Show, Lotee highlighted that the government has made achievements to improve agriculture, through subsidies and improved access to fertiliser, which has seen a significant boost in maize production.

“The fertiliser is a game changer in this country. We had fallen short of producing tons of maize production in this country for many years. This year, a testimony is going to be found when farmers start harvesting,” he said.

The MP argued that the country previously produced about 40,000 tons of maize per year due to the hiked prices of fertiliser, which would retail at Ksh. 6,000.

Lotee further commended the appointment of judges and increased funding for the judiciary, noting that the move will ensure the efficient functioning of the judicial system, which plays a pivotal role in upholding the rule of law.

The legislator also affirmed that financial independence for the National Police Service (NPS) has also been a priority for government in enhancing its effectiveness.

“We have actually seen that the police were at the whims of the executive but with the release of funding, the National Police Service has been able to manage their affairs,” he said.

The Kacheliba MP further emphasized the government's efforts to address teacher shortages hence improving education standards.

He however acknowledged that there remains a segment of the population who may still be dissatisfied with the government's ability to fulfill its promises, almost one year into its term.

The Kenya Kwanza government took effect after President Ruto’s inauguration on September 13, 2022.
