Ulinzi Warriors head coach Bernard Mufutu has praised his team following their recent victory in the Kenya National Basketball League.

The soldiers edged out Africa Nazarene University (ANU) Wolfpacks 68-61 in a men’s premier league clash held at Nyayo Gymnasium, Nairobi.

“We were able to blend our young and experienced players well, and did a great job controlling the pace of the game. There are still a few areas we need to improve on to reach our goals,” said Mufutu.

Despite the win, the soft-spoken coach also commended ANU for their spirited performance.

“ANU is a young, aggressive and agile team. They played well, and kudos to Coach Mike and his squad,” he added.

Ulinzi started strongly, taking the first quarter 12-10 and dominating the second 21-11 to go into halftime with a 33-21 lead. ANU rallied in the second half, winning the third quarter 19-15 and the fourth 21-20, but it wasn’t enough to overturn the deficit.

Ulinzi Warriors currently sit second on the league table with 31 points from 19 matches, having won 12 and lost 7. They have three games remaining in the regular season.

ANU Wolfpacks, meanwhile, are eighth with 22 points from 16 matches, recording six wins and ten losses.
