Kenyan popstar Nadia Mukami has opened up on the difficulties she faced as a first-time mother after the birth of her son Haseeb Kai.

Taking to her Instagram stories on Thursday, Nadia narrated how she was often forced to be strong despite moments when she felt completely overwhelmed.

”I really struggled with the whole new mummy thing! Bruh! I am a very strong woman but I really did get overwhelmed,” she wrote.

The songstress stated that when she tried to explain to others how difficult the situation was for her, they would criticize her for acting overly emotional and weak.

“I tried to try tell anyone how hard that shift was the story was; why are you acting weak, you are not the first one, you are being emotional,” added Nadia.

The ‘Maombi’ hitmaker did, however, add that she felt the most overwhelmed by her work and that no one really understood her.

She said: “…work overwhelmed me the most! I felt like no one understood me at all. I just ask God for strength and guidance!!!”

The mother of one has previously also opened up on the challenges faced by female artists and how the showbiz industry can be especially hard for new mothers.

"I am not a woman who gives up I work hard. It is even harder, when you have given birth, and you are a female artist! I alone understand what I have been going through! It is challenging," she said then.

Nadia Mukami and fellow musician lover Arrow Bwoy welcomed their first child, a baby boy, on March 24, 2022.
