Coaches attending the National Olympic Committee of Kenya’s (NOC-K) high performance training programme say the initiative is already influencing how national teams will prepare for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

The programme, now in its third day and set to conclude on Saturday, has brought together head coaches and technical directors from national teams across various sports.

According to NOC-K, the training aims to strengthen coaching capacity, modernise preparation methods and align federations under a shared high-performance pathway.

Several coaches described the sessions as timely and practical, saying they address long-standing gaps that have limited Kenya’s competitiveness at the highest level.

Harambee Stars assistant coach Anthony Kimani said the programme has boosted his confidence as a national team coach.

“I am very positive that it is going to make me a better coach and, by extension, help me improve the players we have in the national team,” Kimani said.

Coaches from other disciplines echoed similar sentiments, noting that the programme has gone beyond general discussions to directly address sport-specific needs.

National Women’s Hockey Team coach Meshack Senge said the training has sharpened the team’s focus on critical areas that could drive Olympic qualification.
