NOCK unveils commissions as Olympics roadmap gains momentum

Harambee Stars team manager Nick Kimanthi has been named a member of the Technical-Elite Performance Commission, a critical arm tasked with sharpening Kenya’s competitive edge on the global stage.

In a move that underscores growing emphasis on inclusivity, NEC Women Representative Violet Kerubo Momanyi will chair the Gender Commission, placing her at the forefront of advancing equality in sport.

Meanwhile, FKF Football Development Director Francis Kimanzi and FKF CEO Dennis Gicheru have both been appointed to the Appeals Commission, where governance, discipline, and fairness take center stage.

The appointments reflect NOC-Kenya’s governance framework, which prioritizes technical expertise, gender balance, and strategic leadership as part of its long-term vision.

That vision is anchored in an ambitious 10-year roadmap targeting transformation ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympics.

At the heart of the plan lies a bold performance target: delivering at least 10 gold medals at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, a significant leap from the four achieved in Paris 2024.

To get there, NOC-Kenya is investing in sport science, athlete welfare, and modern coaching frameworks through structured high-performance programs.

Equally vital is the focus on youth development. Through its “Raising Stars” initiative, the committee aims to nurture athletes aged 12 to 18 while doubling Kenya’s Olympic disciplines from six to twelve, reducing reliance on traditional strengths like athletics.

Governance reforms also play a central role, with a push for gender equity and integrity in sport, including close collaboration with anti-doping bodies to safeguard fair competition.

These latest appointments not only elevate FKF’s footprint within the Olympic movement but also reinforce a unified approach between federations and NOC-Kenya, as the country builds toward a more diverse and competitive future on the world stage.
