A woman in Murang'a is set to have her third corrective surgery after doctors left a surgical nnedle in her birth canal as she delivered her child.

During an interview with NTV, Everline Wairimu described how her delivery at Kirwara Level 5 Hospital went wrong, leaving her in a lot of pain and distress.

She claimed that on that fateful day, medics informed her that a surgical needle had broken while they were suturing her. Attempts to find the broken piece of the needle were futile.

"Nilipata delivery ya mtoto vizuri, lakini nikishonwa nikaambiwa sindano ya daktari imekatika," Wairimu told NTV "Akaniambia ajaribu kuguza guza mahali alikuwa anashona nimwambie kama naiskia,"

Wairimu says that since the incident, lying down or walking has become a daily nightmare with a stabbing pain.

She went to a different hospital last Thursday after her pains worsened, and after an X-ray found the needle, she returned to Kirwara Hospital, where doctors said they could not find the needle piece despite their best efforts.

Wairimu is currently at the Maragua Hospital awaiting further treatment.

Meanwhile, the Muranga County Health Department has stated that it is investigating this case of suspected medical negligence.
