Police FC midfielder Francis Kahata is in a race to be
fit for their upcoming FKF Premier League clash against AFC Leopards on Sunday.
Kahata suffered a hamstring injury when the two sides
clashed a fortnight ago at the Nyayo National Stadium but he says he has been
training with the rest of the team with the hope of being part of the matchday
squad.
“I am recovering well from the Injury I sustained in
our previous encounter against AFC but I have been training with the rest of
the team and I hope to be fully fit for Sunday match and help the team get
maximum points,” Kahata said.
The former Gor Mahia FC player was quick to hail the
impact to the new head coach Sammy Pamzo Omollo adding that he has brought in positive
energy among the players and that will be replicated on the pitch.
“He is one of the best coaches we have in this country
and him joining us is a big plus. We’re lucky to have him alongside Musa Otieno
because these are respected figures in Kenyan football and we can already feel their
impact,” Kahata added.
Having played to a one-all draw against Ingwe in the
first leg, the creative midfielder has rallied his team to collect all three
points against while praising their opponents’ fighting spirit.
“They have a youth squad that is very hungry to prove a
point so we cannot afford to take them for granted.”
Police are currently tenth in the league standings
with 28 points from 23 matches played
