Probe launched after man found murdered, skinned in Nyeri

A 58-year-old man was on Saturday morning found murdered and his head skinned in Nyeri County.

The body of the deceased, Geoffrey Ngatia Wanjau, was discovered in Gathaithi village in Tetu Constituency by area residents.

The villagers then alerted the assistant chief and the police.

Confirming the incident, area Assistant Chief John Waruru said Wanjau was brutally murdered a day before his daughter's dowry ceremony which was to take place at his home.

“He left his house at around 10pm never to return,” said the administrator.

Chief Waruru further noted that the gruesome murder comes exactly one month after the deceased’s cows were slaughtered by unknown people.

He confirmed that a probe into the murder has since already been launched.
