Posta Rangers head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo says he will offload players aged 30 years and above as they prepare for the 2025/2026 league season.
Omollo says age factor was one of the reasons the team did
not perform well in the ended season.
‘’I will first of all
work on reducing the age limit. Last season, I had six players above 30 years
old and this did not work well for us. I will trim out players above 30
years,’’ stated Omollo.
According to Omollo, players over 30 were seen to tire in
the second half of most matches, reducing the mailmen’s momentum. The towering
coach says his current squad must be youthful to ensure their performance
improves.
He added that: ‘’My
main striker Felix Oluoch is joining Zimbabwean side Scotland FC. He was our
main striker, meaning we have to look for youthful goal poachers ahead of next
season.”
Rangers, like any other top-tier team, are on break to pave
the way for the CHAN competition in August to be hosted by Kenya, Uganda and
Tanzania.
At the same time Omollo is hopeful that the new FKF office
will bring on board a League title sponsor even as the club also scouts for a
shirt sponsor to help address their financial constraints.
‘’Our financial
muscle was weak last season and that is one other challenge we had. We hope Federation
will bring on board a title sponsor. In addition, it would be healthy for us if
we also get our shirt sponsor.’’
Posta Rangers survived relegation from the top tier league
after beating National Super League side Naivas 2-1 aggregate in a two-legged
relegation / promotion playoff.
