Residents of Mariwa in South Sakwa Ward, Awendo Sub-County, Migori, have expressed frustration over the constant power outages.

They stated that the issue has plagued the region for the past three weeks, urging the government to take action.

Led by George Miduda, the residents revealed that the blackout has severely impacted their economic activities.

Most power-dependent businesses have come to a halt since the outages began, causing financial strain on local traders and entrepreneurs.

They also linked the surge in insecurity incidents in the area to the prolonged power failure, stating that the lack of electricity has created a conducive environment for criminal activities.

“We have reached out to some officials from Kenya Power, but we have yet to receive a response,” Miduda lamented.

The residents are now urging the government to address the persistent power challenges and restore stability to their region.

“The power outage has persisted for many years, and it continues to affect our livelihoods and safety,” another resident said.
