Kenya Premier League side Kariobangi Sharks will prioritize
promoting its academy players to the first team following a massive exodus of
its key players in the off-season.
Sharks tactician William Muluya says the team has parted ways
with a majority of his first team players so far in this transfer window and
will rely on his youth team to find replacements.
The Nairobi-based outfit finished 10th in the FKF-Premier League
last season and will be out to hit the ground running when the new season kicks
off next month.
"Seems like almost everyone if not all in
the squad has left but the good thing is that we have the Youth team in place
and we will now give them the opportunity to play at the main league." He said
The sharks have already started their pre-season campaign in
Nairobi and will play their first friendly game against Kahawa United tomorrow
as they seek to get ready for the new season.
"We shall camp at Nyayo stadium starting
tomorrow even as we continue to follow up on some of the teams we have
requested to play friendlies with," Muluya has added.
The Kenya Premier League is scheduled to kick off for a new
season on the 27th of August and all the teams on Monday 1st August met the
Football Kenya Federation Transition Committee to review the 2021/22 season
which was marred with a lot of controversies.
