Kabras RFC captain Dan Sikuta says they are
prepared to extend their impressive form in the national sevens circuit when
action resumes this coming weekend in Nakuru.
Speaking to Citizen Digital ahead of the
tournament, Sikuta said they have been working hard on closing out games
against tough opponents to avoid clutch situations.
"We have never stopped training since the
series took a break because we know the importance of keeping up with the
momentum, so we have put in hard work that we are sure will bear fruits this
weekend," said Sikuta.
Kabras are in pool A in the Prinsloo Sevens
alongside Kisumu RFC, Homeboyz RFC, and Western Bulls, a pool the captain says
they won’t underestimate any team despite his side being seen as the favorites
to top the group.
"We are not underestimating any opponent in
that group; we will take every game with the seriousness that it deserves
because we know how every team is training hard to beat the best, "he
added.
Kabras lead the series standings after reaching
the finals in Dalas Sevens, where they lost to KCB in the final, before heading
to Mombasa, where they beat Menengai Oilers in the finals 10-7, a form the
captain believes they will maintain heading into this weekend’s assignment.
"Oilers are a very strong team, and Nakuru
RFC are playing at home; it will be an advantage to them with the home support
that they will receive, but we are not worried about that; we are used to
playing in those huge crowds, and we will remain calm," he reckoned.
