Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) on Thursday affirmed that the Super fuel that includes V-POWER fuel in the country meets the recommended Research Octane Number (RON) ratings stipulated by Kenyan standards.
The Energy & Petroleum Authority (EPRA) has also affirmed
the top rating.
In a joint statement, the two regulators undertook confirmatory
tests on fuel samples from various petrol stations in the country, including
Shell petrol stations across the country.
The four samples of differentiated fuel have confirmed a RON of
96.1, 95.9, 96.0, and 95.9.
The move comes hot on the heels of recent reports and videos
circulating on digital space, suggesting the contrary.
The new revelation is a sign of relief for Kenya's leading Oil marketing company Vivo Energy Kenya that distributes and markets Shell products.
The authority also cautioned Kenyans against the use of wrong
uncalibrated equipment to test products, urging reliance on approved laboratories.
