Twelve-time Kenya Premier League champions AFC Leopards are gearing up for a landmark event as the club’s U-45 branch prepares to host the second edition AFC Leopards Awards Gala in Bungoma from July 21 – 26.  The much-anticipated event has received the green light from the club's National Executive Committee[NEC], led by Chairman Boniface Ambani, who hailed the initiative as a powerful platform for celebrating excellence within the Ingwe fraternity.

“The Gala is an important event for the club, and I support it because that’s the only time you appreciate your players, fans, and those who have been close to the team. The boys are upbeat and motivated,” said Ambani.

Club Secretary-General, Isaac Mulindi, also backed the gala, saying it presents an opportunity for resource mobilization and fan engagement. “Our players are going to benefit, and fans would also interact, something that is good for the brand. I believe it is a good head start for us as NEC …, and we urge everyone to come and support this event,” Mulindi stated.

According to U-45 branch chairman Olympia Musonye, the event will feature 10 award categories, an additional five categories compared to last years, including Player of the Season, Top Scorer, Most Improved Player, Young Player of the Season, Fans' Player of the Year, Club Legend Awards, and Special Recognition Awards for long-serving officials and sponsors.

In a creative twist, the organizers announced a fan incentive where every 10th ticket buyer will win an exclusive invite to the main gala night, where lucky supporters will dine and interact with players at Wanangali Grounds. The day will kick off with in-stadium entertainment, including a match pitting Ingwe and Nzoia Sugar, before transitioning to the evening dinner and awards ceremony.

Musonye emphasized that the branch is working closely with NEC to ensure smooth execution. “We’re planning additional activities, including possible interbranch tournaments across the country, from the Coast to Western Kenya. We want every branch involved,” he said.

He further urged all branches to stay focused on the club’s welfare. “When we come together as branches, that’s already 90% of the work done. The key is to follow through, avoid unnecessary politics, and keep the club’s growth at heart.”

The Gala awards will be live on the Roga Roga show on Citizen TV.

The AFC Leopards U-45 Gala promises to be more than just an awards night; it’s a celebration of community, loyalty, and Ingwe pride.
