Ex AfDB president, UG attorney general join Centum board

Listed investment firm Centum has strengthened its board with the appointment of four new directors among them former African Development Bank President Donald Kaberuka.

The appointment of the four new directors is expected to strengthen Centum’s corporate governance as well bring on board experienced members to steer the firm’s growth.

Uganda Attorney General William Byaruhanga, Catherine Igathe and Mary Ngige round up the other new appointments to the board in non executive capacities.

Before becoming attorney general, Mr Byaruhanga worked as an investment and corporate finance lawyer.

Mrs Nginge has worked as the finance director and acting chief executive officer at CMC Holdings while Mrs Igathe is currently the Managing Director of AIG Kenya.

Centum Chief Executive Officer James Mworia says the firm is positioning itself to take up investment opportunities in the region with the new directors charged with archiving the goal.

“as we transition from a national to a continental champion, we are pleased to welcome our new directors to the board,’ Mr Mworia.

Centum has been diversifying its investment portfolio, recently venturing into agribusiness with an eye on exotic herbs and horticulture exports.

Former chairman James Muguiyi and Trade Principal Secretary Dr Chris Kiptoo resigned from the Centum board during the annual general meeting held in September.
