Former KAM CEO Phyllis Wakiaga joins Tony Blair Institute

Former Kenya Association of Manufacturers
(KAM) Chief Executive Officer Phyllis Wakiaga has joined the Tony Blair
Institute for Global Change as a Senior Private Sector Development Advisor.
Her appointment to the post comes after the
end of her nine-year stint with the manufacturer’s lobby which saw her serve as
CEO since July of 2015.
Wakiaga will be tasked with driving the
Institute’s continental public-private dialogue initiative and the development
of global investment programmes across various sectors that are key to the
continent’s economic transformation.
Wakiaga first joined KAM in 2013 as the Head
of Policy Research and Advocacy.
She previously served as Kenya Airways (KQ)
Manager and Coordinator for Government and Industry Affairs between March 2010
and June 2013.
Wakiaga holds a Bachelors of Law degree from
the University of Nairobi where she also earned a Masters in International
Trade and Investment Law.
She also holds a PhD in Leadership and
Governance from JKUAT, where she also earned a Masters in Business
Administration.
On Friday, KAM announced the appointment of
Tobias Alando as the Acting CEO while announcing ongoing plans for a full-time
CEO appointment.
Alando, who joined KAM in 2005, has been the
lobby’s Head of Membership and Governance since 2010.
