The iconic Sarova
Hotels & Resorts has docked into the port City of Kisumu after signing a
seven-year management agreement with Imperial Hotel Kisumu.
The establishment
to be known as Sarova Imperial Hotel Kisumu is the eighth hotel for the chain
after facilities in Nairobi, Mombasa and Nakuru.
Sarova Hotels Group
Managing Director Jimi Kariuki says the addition is part of the chain’s growth
plan into the Western Kenya region.
“The city’s
location on the shores of Africa’s largest lake. Lake Victoria and the on-going
modernization of the lakefront makes Kisumu a unique destination to add to the
Sarova experience,” he said.
The facility is
currently undergoing renovations which are set for completion in July or August
this year.
Once complete, the
hotel is expected to feature 93 renovated guest bedrooms including suites, new meeting
facilities and food and beverage outlets.
On its part, the
management of the Imperial Hotel says the collaborative deal will open the
facility’s scope for growth as it comes under the stewardship of Sarova.
“We realize that we are in a global era in which professionalization and collaboration are crucial to success and to meet our vision,” said Imperial Hotel Chairman Amin Gilani.
