Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has lately been grabbing headlines following his dramatic arrest and arraignment by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), in what the watchdog says is procurement irregularities by the first time governor.

Natembeya has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, saying the charges against him are politically motivated to silence him against criticising the government of the day.

In an exclusive interview with Citizen Digital, the first time governor delves into his life as a young boy, his time as a District Officer and how he rose through the ranks to become a powerful and outspoken regional commissioner for the Rift Valley region.

Natembeya also delves into his efforts to reclaim the Mau Forest by evicting squatters, an exercise that put his name in the national headlines when he was Rift Valley regional commissioner.
