Mike Posner reflects on transformative journey since releasing 'I took a pill in Ibiza'

American musician Mike Posner has reflected on the evolution of his perspective regarding the lyrics of his 2016 hit song 'I Took a Pill in Ibiza.' 

He has gone through significant personal growth over the last decade, which has caused him to reconsider his previous statements.

Posner took to social media to share excerpts from the song juxtaposed with his current beliefs, expressing pride in the transformative journey he has taken. 

He stated that he wrote the lyrics on his 26th birthday, but as he celebrated his 36th, he found comfort in realizing that none of those sentiments still apply to him.

The lyrics, which previously represented a desire for acceptance through reckless behavior, now contrast with Posner's current self-love and healthier lifestyle choices. 

He emphasized his path to self-improvement, which included overcoming past avoidance patterns and seeking therapy to address underlying issues.

Posner also expressed his desire to assist others in navigating their own struggles, drawing on his own experiences of pain and growth.
