Musonye has said the tournament presents a rare opportunity for the local fans to enjoy the beautiful game in Kenya, at low costs underlining there is no excuse for missing out.
Importantly, the former Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Secretary General has reminded Kenyans that their response to the tournament will count in some of the decisions to be made for the 2027 African Cup of Nations.
“This is our chance to show the unity of purpose as a country. We are a diverse people, but we’ve always come together in the spirit of Harambee. Let us use this tournament to deepen that spirit and leave behind a legacy,” said Musonye in a passionate appeal.
To encourage maximum attendance, Musonye officially announced affordable ticket prices during a press briefing at Nyayo National Stadium. Regular tickets will cost KSh 200, VIP tickets KSh 500, and VVIP tickets KSh 1,000.
“We have had discussions with the three countries and for Kenya, regular will go for Ksh 200, Ksh 500 VIP and 1000 VVIP. We have done this for Kenyans to show up and at the same time we understand the economic situation in the country,” he said.
Importantly, the tickets will be sold in advance only, with no sales at stadium gates to avoid crowding and ensure tight security during the event.
Kenya is set to host Group A fixtures at the newly renovated Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Harambee Stars will begin their campaign against the Democratic Republic of Congo on August 3, face Angola on August 7, take on Morocco on August 10, and conclude their group stage against Zambia on August 17 after a week’s break.
Musonye confirmed that participating teams will begin arriving next week and preparations are in full swing.
“We’ve already received their arrival schedules and are ensuring everything runs flawlessly, including allocating training grounds to the participating teams,” he stated.
This will be the first time East Africa hosts CHAN, a milestone Musonye says will shape the region’s chances of co-hosting AFCON 2027 with Uganda and Tanzania.
“If we succeed, the entire continent will look to us with renewed confidence and everyone will want to come back for AFCON 2027.”
With assurance from the LOC and massive infrastructure upgrades now complete, Kenya and East Africa are ready to host the continental show-piece.
The spotlight now shifts to Harambee Stars, as the nation hopes they’ll deliver a tournament to remember.
