Obama Shares His Favorite Songs of 2021, Including Tracks by Lil Nas X, Cardi B, and Nas

As the year draws to a close, Barack Obama, the former President of the United States of America, is sharing his annual list of favorite music in three parts.

The former president's playlist reveals that he enjoys a wide range of musical genres. The Spotify playlist ranges from Jamaican dancehall to hip-hop and RnB to Indie rock and other genres.

'The only heartbreaker' by Mitski, from the Indie-rock genre, is number one on the Spotify playlist.  Also, on the list is ‘Pepas’ by Farruko. Cardi B and Lizzo made the list with ‘Rumors’. Lil Nas X also made the list with his hit song ‘Call me by your name’. ‘Nobody’ by Nas featuring Ms. Lauryn Hill appeared on the list together with Spice featuring Sean Paul and Shaggy with the song ‘Go down deh’ among many others

"I've always enjoyed listening to a wide variety of music, so it's no surprise that I listened to a little bit of everything this year," Obama wrote on his verified Instagram account.  

In the three part list, Obama also posted a list of his favorite movies of 2021 in which he captioned “Each of these films tells a powerful story, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.” Among the list that contained fourteen movies was ‘Drive my Car’ ‘West side story’ ‘Passing’ ‘Judas and the black messiah’ just to mention a few.

On the list of his favorite books of 2021, Obama posted on Instagram saying “I’ll start by sharing some of the books that I read this year that left a lasting impression.” Some of the books that left a lasting impression on Obama were ‘Matrix’ by Lauren Groff, ‘How the word is passed,’ ‘Afershocks’ by Nadia Owusu and ‘Beautiful Country’ by Qian Julie Wang.
