Police in Eldoret town raided a 6-bedroom house in Elgonview Estate and discovered it was converted into a ‘greenhouse’ for bhang farming.

According to a police report, the officers conducted a thorough search in the two buildings within the compound on Tuesday night.

Twenty-one cannabis plants were found in the main bedroom, 68 in the sitting room, 14 in the dining room and 26 in an adjacent iron sheet-walled house.

The officers also found an assortment of personal documents.

All the plants were uprooted after having been documented by DCI Scenes of Crime personnel, the plants weighed 33.5 Kgs with a street value of about one million Kenya Shillings,” police said.

The main suspect behind the makeshift nursery, whom police have identified as Kipchumba Michael Kibet, has gone missing and his search is underway.

Police have in the meantime appealed to members of the public for information that can lead to his arrest.
