The management of Brown's Food Company has suspended three senior employees following revelations that one of its managers forced female staff members to strip in order to determine which one of them was on her period.

The bizarre incident was preceded by the discovery of a used sanitary towel inside a wrong bin within the company's cheese factory premises.

In a statement on Thursday, Brown's top management noted that they are horrified and disheartened to learn that such an incident occurred right under their noses despite the fact that the firm is a pro-woman business.

"As soon as the matter was brought to our attention, the individuals involved were suspended," the statement seen by Citizen Digital reads in part.

"We have apologized to the women involved and would like to apologize to the wider public as well."

Brown's management, while labeling the incident as isolated, added that they have since commenced internal investigations into the matter further noting that they have engaged a third-party HR company to conduct the probe.

"Brown's has formal HR policies and systems in place and this incident does not reflect the procedures of the Company as a whole," said the company.

"The Company is engaging a third-party HR company to allow all employees a chance to discuss the matter with an external party. We are also engaging with experts on women's health and sensitization to ensure our policies and trainings do not allow for such an incident to happen again," the added.

Following news of the incident, the company's Quality Assurance Manager, Human Resource Manager and HR assistant were arrested on Thursday.

They are scheduled to be arraigned in court on Friday.
