Peter Kahare’s life has not been the same ever since he was electrocuted in 2020 while playing with his peers. On that fateful day, Peter oblivious to the dangers lurking touched a live wire.

“That day, I sent my son to my friend who happened to be my neighbour, and he ended up playing with his friends at that friend''s balcony, and that’s when he touched an exposed live wire,” said Jane Njoki, Peters mother.

"Njoki recalls rushing his son to a local clinic in Utawala, they were referred to Kenyatta Hospital. “The doctors at Kenyatta hospital were on strike so we opted for St Francis Kasarani. He underwent his first surgery, he lost his pinky finger to electrocution,” she told Citizen Digital.

This was followed by 6 more surgical procedures. Soon after Peter lost his right arm, just below the wrist, this was followed by his left hand.

“Every time we went into the theatre for an operation, my son left a different person, he left a part of him in there, it was really painful watching in in such a situation.

His life has changed completely, Peter who was a young vibrant and self-reliant boy, today relies on his family and well-wishers. For Peter to lead a quality and self-reliant life, he requires artificial hands but his family cannot afford them.

“We need Ksh1.4 million for his artificial hands, people have been very helpful, both in school and at home, his classmate feed him and take him to the toilet and that goes a long way.  With the help of teachers and his classmates, he is been able to cope with the situation, but if my son can get artificial hands, he will live a better and quality life, he will do so many things on his own,” she said.

According to his mother, those who want to help can reach the family on 0725462875
