According to the legislator, the awaited launch of the new coalition is only founded on tribal grounds and will not manage to stage a firm contest against President Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
"It's unfortunate that most of these political parties are now regional or tribal. And whether they launch new political parties, I don't think they will unsettle President Ruto," he told Citizen TV on Thursday.
"I think now it allows President Ruto to cruise at the highest speed to the second term."
While adding that there is no formidable leader to threaten President Ruto's second stab and the nation's helm, Cherargei noted that new parties can only divide Kenyans as opposed to uniting them.
"It is very tragic that we are going back to discussing regional and tribal parties just to capture power and this opposition will not be formidable," he noted.
Some of the political leaders in the opposition front include Martha Karua, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Eugene Wamalwa, Kalonzo Musyoka and Fred Mantiang'i.
"They will never settle on any candidate to face President Ruto in the 2027 elections," Cherargei added.
This comes as Gachagua is set to launch his party which he has branded as a Mount Kenya region political wagon.
He has also hinted that there are ongoing talks with his fellow political heavyweights to decide on who will be the opposition's flagbearer to face President Ruto.
